Listracanthus hystrix |

A different
type of dermal denticle or "scale" from the skin of ancient sharks. The
largest listracanthi appear on the back of the shark, become smaller as
they procede down the flanks, and are replaced by petrodus-like denticles
on
on
the belly skin.
Approximate Age: 310-312 million years
old.
